About
My Journey in Design
I am Masters Candidate in Collaborative and Industrial Design at Aalto University. I got the chance to do my Bachelor’s thesis in collaboration with Fiskars during spring of 2023. Throughout my undergraduate career, I partook in various internships, competitions, and exhibitions, diversifying my studies with further practical experience related to cultural and creative industries and sustainable industrial design.
Experiences and Achievements
Currently I am working as a freelance designer with various clients and studying my Masters degree at the same time. In the past I have worked at Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale which was beyond rewarding. I not only exhibited in the digital space via radio interviews but also produced in groupo our own exhibition, kantokyky, as part of the official parallel program of the biennale. Concurrently, I completed a service and design internship at Onoma, combining my love for fine arts with exhibition organizational experience and learning technical skills such as digital optimization for consumer satisfaction.
In my first year of Bachelor studies, I was chosen to be the exhibition designer for the international research project “Refashioning the Renaissance,” producing my design into reality for the first time in a professional setting. This experience allowed me to interact, cooperate, and learn from talented art and design history researchers from around the world.
In addition to my practical experience, I have achieved a high grade average in my Bachelor’s studies and won competitions such as the 2022 Young Finnish Design, New Materials, New Designs competition for my zero waste pant pattern concept. After exhibiting my bachelor’s thesis proposal on accessible turning food waste into household craftable biomaterials, Fiskars commissioned my thesis, and purchased some of my research on food waste materials.
Passion for Sustainable Design
My passion for sustainable industrial design and biomaterial research is not just a career choice, but a personal commitment to creating a better future. I believe that as designers, we have a responsibility to consider the environmental impact of our work and to strive for solutions that are not only innovative and aesthetically pleasing, but also sustainable and responsible.
Exploring and Experimenting
One of the things I enjoy most about my work is the opportunity to experiment with different materials and technologies. Whether it’s exploring the potential of biowaste as a sustainable material, or experimenting with 3D printing techniques to create innovative product designs, I’m always looking for ways to push the boundaries of what’s possible and challenge the status quo.
Sharing and Inspiring
But my work isn’t just about creating innovative designs. It’s also about sharing my passion for sustainable design with others. Whether it’s through exhibiting my work at events like the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale, or sharing my research and ideas through radio interviews and other platforms, I’m committed to raising awareness about the importance of sustainable design and inspiring others to think more critically about the impact of their own work.
Looking Ahead
Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue my studies in the Collaborative and Industrial Design Masters program at Aalto University. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to deepen my understanding of sustainable design principles, explore new areas of research, and continue to develop my skills and expertise.
Continuous Growth
I’m also eager to continue seeking out new opportunities for professional growth and development. Whether it’s through internships, competitions, exhibitions, or collaborations, I’m always open to new experiences that can challenge me, inspire me, and help me grow as a designer.
